Me having never been a Pinot lover, yet, Felton Road is surely something.
Back in 2000, my former workmate, Dean Johnson then shared me with a glass of 1997 vintage of Felton Road Pinot Noir Block 3 as an after-work private testing session at the New Zealand Winemakers' Centre located on Eliot street in Auckland city central - later on I got to know that the 1997 was the winery's very first vintage.
It would've been a closed, less smooth sips in its infancy, but to me, was simply a stunning wine, showing complexity and suppleness.
The moment is still vivid in my memory and every time I happen to have a Pinot, I can't help but compare it with my great memory and therefore, those have no chance to beat it.
